I had an interview today and ended up speaking to my interviewer about the live below the line challenge. We ended up getting into a short discussion about the challenge and she said something that has really stuck with me, 'You can't possibly compare your challenge to their reality'. Of course she was completely right, most of us can't even begin to comprehend what it is like to live in extreme poverty. This challenge is not to a comparison, because there is no comparison, how could there be. The £1 I am spending each day is only attempting to cover my nutritional needs. How could I begin to compare this with the 1.4 billion people (or around 70% of the worlds population) that are currently living under that rely on only a £1 a day to pay for everything.  They have less the £365 a year, to cover the costs of shelter, education, health, clothes, not to mention food, in fact everything but the air they breathe. All I want to achieve is raising awareness, THIS HAS TO CHANGE! It is unacceptable that there are people who have so little and we have so much. Tearfund is one of the many charities dedicated to making a difference to the people for which a £1 a day is a daily reality.
